Wow - that is nice find. So, whats next? Is there a chance that there will be PowerPivot for SharePoint on the cloud? That would be very nice.

As I read more - Amazon gives you hardware and OS, so you can install on this server anything you want, including SharePoint. SO that does means that you can install PowerPivot for Sharepoint. Problem here - you still have to setup and maintain yourself. THat is going to be a problem for many smaller shops.

You're much smarter than I am drawing out the implications of having quick/easy access to the cloud like this.

Seat of the pants, tells me that this is big and PP will drive a lot usage here.

Hi Guys,

We installed PowerPivot with SharePoint 2010 using the vidas guide on a Amazon machine (8 GB ram), mainly to be used as demo machine.We of course have to maintain it yourself.

My guess is that BPOS 2010 will already get us started with BI and the next version will give us PowerPivot (next version ?)
