Hi there,

I'm trying to build a dashboard report. Data is coming from multiple databases into PowerPivot, and I'm driving the dashboard using CUBE functions.

I notice that when I add items to/modify the PowerPivot tables that it's pretty easy to update any PivotTables. You just need to right click and refresh the table. Pretty easy.

The CUBE functions are treating me a little different though. After modifying the PowerPivot data, I can't seem to get the cube functions to pull the new items unless I refresh a PivotTable first. Am I missing something? I would have expected an F9 to do it, but no such luck...

Hi Ken,

I don't know much about cube formulas, as I am not using them myself. But I know following refresh options:

- Go to Data tab, choose "Connections", your connection and the click on the "Refresh" button
- Go to Data tab and choose "Refresh All". If you have multiple connections that might not be best options
- Go to Data tab, choose "Connections", select your connection and click "Properties". There you will have an option to set:
"Refresh every x minutes"
and/or
"Refresh data when opeing the file"

So as you stated, you need to refresh pivot data connection first, I don't know any other way. But I listed refresh options above in case it might be enough for you to refresh for example very 5 minutes.
